Terms of Service

1. Overview

StormDesk is a weather intelligence and alerting platform operated by Franklin Labs LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using StormDesk (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Service Description

StormDesk provides real-time weather monitoring, automated briefings, threat assessments, and emergency notifications to emergency management agencies and their designated contacts. The Service aggregates data from public and commercial sources to deliver situational awareness tools.

3. SMS Messaging

StormDesk offers SMS-based weather alerts and verification messages to contacts registered by authorized agency administrators. By having your phone number added to StormDesk and completing the verification process, you consent to receive:

One-time verification codes to confirm your phone number
Severe weather alerts and emergency briefings relevant to your agency’s coverage area
Operational notifications as configured by your agency administrator

Message frequency:Varies based on weather activity, typically 0–5 messages per week. During active severe weather, frequency may increase.

Opt-out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately. Reply HELP for assistance.

Message and data rates may apply. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your messaging plan.

Carrier disclaimer: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

SMS is provided as a supplementary notification channel. StormDesk is not a replacement for official emergency alert systems (EAS, WEA, IPAWS).

4. Accounts & Access

Access to StormDesk is provided to authorized emergency management personnel. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Agency administrators are responsible for managing user access within their organization.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Share account credentials with unauthorized parties
Redistribute StormDesk data for commercial purposes without permission
Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service
Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

6. Data & Accuracy

StormDesk aggregates weather data from the National Weather Service, Storm Prediction Center, and other public and commercial sources. While we strive for accuracy, weather data is inherently uncertain. StormDesk is provided “as-is” and should not be the sole basis for life-safety decisions. Always follow official guidance from your local NWS office and emergency management agency.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Franklin Labs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by your organization for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

8. Modifications

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or email. Continued use of StormDesk after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
